The Friends of Sandia Mountains (FOSM) completed another trail session in support of the Sandia Ranger District (SRD) Cienega/Armijo Trails Improvement Project (CATIP). The session extended another reroute of Armijo Trail, #222, to move the trail out of the bottom of the canyon drainage.

The project had the largest crew to ever turn out for a FOSM trail session. The 17 volunteers were Don Carnicom, Jerry Pekarek, Jim Levesque, Sim Cook, Eric Russell, Jeff Huser, Rav Nicholson, Jenny Blackmore, Mark Grazier, Byron Garner, Lorna Morrow, Phil Cromer, Pat Madden, new volunteers Jim Houle and Bruce Hansche, and Betsy and Bob Galloway. Directing the crew was Russell Berman, Cibola National Forest and Grasslands Trails Resource Assistant, ably assisted by John and Canyon, SRD seasonal trail crew members. The twenty trail workers made great progress on the reroute. One more session could complete all the planned work on Armijo Trail.
