My previous announcement gave the wrong date below. To be clear, the project will be on Thursday April 25, 2019.

PROJECT DETAILS:
Weather and trail conditions permitting, the Friends of the Sandia Mountains (FOSM) and the New Mexico Mountain Club (NMMC) will support a project planned by Kerry Wood, SRD Trails and Wilderness Program Manager, and Mark Grazier of NMMC. The project is to make improvements to Ranger Rock, a popular rock climbing location near the Sandia Ranger Station.

Tasks will involve improving trail tread, cleaning up rubble debris from anchor zones, closing off or rerouting access trails, better defining access points, and rock cribbing with backfill to add or improve base belay  platforms.

So we can plan for enough tools and hard hats and organize the improvements, please let me know by email or text 1) IF you plan to participate, 2) IF you will need a hard hat, and 3) IF you have any questions.

START TIME:
Meet at the Ranger Rock parking area south of the Sandia Ranger District (SRD) at 0830 on Thursday 4/25/19 ready to go. Bring your lunch, snacks, liquids, and sunscreen. Dress in layers to accommodate varying temperatures. We will work until 1400 - 1430.

PARKING LOCATION: Important! Please park in the main SRD parking lot north of the station. The parking at Ranger Rock must be left open for project staging and operation of the skidsteer.

REQUIRED ATTIRE:
The standard USFS trail work PPE requirements will apply: approved hard hat, eye protection, no open-toed shoes, work gloves, and pants (no shorts), no exceptions. A hard hat can be provided if needed.

Weather and trail conditions can change quickly. Please watch for any last minute project updates.

Thanks. And I can amend this distribution list as desired.
