Finally, after a long delivery time, a wet winter, a government shutdown, and higher priorities, a crew from the Friends of Sandia Mountains (FOSM) was able to help Russell Berman, Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands Resource Assistant - Trails, install a trailhead message center kiosk procured with a 2018 REI grant. The kiosk was installed at the Horse Bypass horse trailer parking lot. The installation is part of the Sandia Ranger District Cienega/Armijo Trail Improvement Project.

FOSM has a lot of irons in the fire but with another trail project cancelled, the right crew was available to install the kiosk. The volunteers on the project were Jim Levesque, Byron Garner, Sim Cook, Jenny Blackmore, Mark Grazier, Don Carnicom, and Betsy and Bob Galloway. The really good news was that three more FOSM volunteers are trained on the kiosk installation process.
