Hello Everyone,
On Wednesday, July 17, 2019, seven FOSM volunteers bucked, split, and moved about two cords of wood from Balsam Glade and Capulin Spring Picnic Areas. The wood from these felled hazard trees was piled at the hazmat building and will be collected by the Mountain Christian Church Wood Ministry for distribution to needy families in the East Mountain Area.
The 24-inch diameter tree in lower Balsam Glade PA had been felled a few yeas ago, and the 27-inch diameter fir tree in Capulin PA was felled earlier this year as part of a chain saw recertification. The large rounds were split so that it was easier and safer for the volunteers to load on the truck. The wood is moved so that the picnic areas are more attractive, and the wood is donated to a charitable organization and is utilized in the local community.
The volunteers were Lou Romero, Eric Russell, Sam Beard, Jim Levesque, Jerry Pekarek, Dan Benton, and Jerry Carroll.
Photographs of the project are presented in the attached Word document.
