Hello All,
Due to the ruling about the Mexico Spotted Owl, we are not permitted to cut any vegetation; therefore, we will not be thinning at Cedro nor cutting brush at Capulin Snow Play Area.
Instead, I have a project that does not involve cutting vegetation.
Filling Pot Holes in 10K North Parking Lot -- Several bags of cold patch are stored in the SRD shop. Filling holes requires that the holes be dug out to a depth of 2 inches and the sides make vertical. We then put in the cold patch gravel/black binder and tamp it manually. We then pack it with the front wheel of a pickup. Jerry Carroll has agreed to haul the bags of cold patch to 10K parking lot.
We will need a few picks and flat bottom shovels to remove the dirt and gravel from the holes. We can get a few tampers from the shop, but if you have one, please bring it.
Meet at 8:30 AM at the FOSM Guard Station behind the Sandia Ranger Station. Wear long pants, long sleeve shirts, and sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring work gloves and hard hats. If you do not have a hard hat, one will be provided. Bring eye and ear protection. Bring lunch, snacks, and drinks.
Please park in the north parking lot in front of the Ranger Station so that there will be more parking space for SRD seasonal employees and fire fighters near the FOSM Guard Station. We will have the JHA in the front parking lot.
If you have questions, please email me at samgbeard@msn.com.
