Hello Everyone,
Tuesday Oct 1 the FOSM painters striped the 10K parking lots starting on the North side then moving over to the South side. Thanks to the weather we knocked these lots out in record time. The sun was shining as we drove up the mountain until we rounded the last curve before 10K. Then we were greeted with heavy fog and a sharp breeze. Parking lot was empty of cars so we put out the cones and Russ started the Stihl blower as we set up our carts. We moved quickly to keep warm but still put down three layers on each stripe. By the time we moved over to the South side the sun was warm and we were feeling good.
Then up to Ellis Trail Head parking lot to see what we could see. Which was nothing. Socked in and even colder. Being tough little painters, we set out chairs to take our break which lasted 15 minutes when we voted to head down the mountain to find better working conditions. Sulphur Canyon was 64 degrees and sunny. We finished the last two sections needed to complete this lot.
Jane again did the handicap spaces and drove the FS truck. Russ was on the blower and Rikki, Ellie & Sam on carts. Sam counted 21 deer on the drive up -- several 4 point bucks & plenty of nice looking ladies.
