Hello Everyone:
Yesterday, Monday, November 25, 2019, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked Tecolote and Armijo trails and a small section of Faulty Trail to remove previously reported problem trees. The crew removed a 10-inch diameter hang-up tree from Tecolote, a 12-inch
fir fallen at knee-high level over Armijo just below its junction with Faulty and a 10-inch fallen fir that was blocking Faulty at waist level just above the Armijo junction. In addition to those trees, a previously cut 8 to 10 foot section of a 12-inch diameter
log was found that apparently had slid down onto Armijo from its uphill side just below the reported fallen tree. The log was partially blocking the trail. The crew rolled it off to the downhill side. Tecolote and Armijo trails are now clear along their entire
lengths.
The day was clear and quite brisk with light chilly winds in exposed areas. The trails were mainly moist with muddy areas, particularly on Armijo. There were a number of snow packed sections which had formed slick icy patches in shady spots. Much of the
snow became slushy by the afternoon. Of course, predicted storms later this week may change those conditions significantly.
Yesterday's crew consisted of Jerry Pekarek, Rav Nicholson, Cliff Giles, Ken Nicholson, Cleve Sharp and Bob Lowder.
