Hello Everyone:

Yesterday, January 6, 2020, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked the Kiwanis Meadow Road to its junction with Crest Trail 130, 130 to near its junction with Gravel Pit trail, the Kiwanis Meadow Trail (AKA – The Chute) to its junction with lower Switchback trail, Switchback to Buried Cable, and Buried Cable back to 130 to complete the loop back to the Crest. This is basically the Annual Snowshoe Race route. Not much work to do this time, but it was a nice snowshoe hike in the woods.

Except for a small fallen aspen branch  removed from Switchback, the trails were clear. The snow was mainly packed and provided good conditions for skis or snowshoes. The skies were clear and sunny with  a brisk wind at the Crest that was much less noticeable down in the trees. Temperatures remained in the 20’s through the morning. Except for a light cover of snow in  windy drift areas, the Crest highway was open and dry.

Monday’s crew consisted of Jim Levesque, Jerry Pekarek, Sim Cook, Byron Garner, Rav Nicholson, Cliff Giles, David McCreery, Cleve Sharp and Bob Lowder.
