Hello Everyone,
On Wednesday, February 26, 2020, Dan Benton, Jerry Carroll, Eric Russell, and Sam Beard performed routine maintenance on 10 chain saws.
After disassembling a saw by removing the brake cover, chain, bar, E-clip, washer, brake drum, and drive shaft bearing, we cleaned all the parts and the saw power head. The small bearing assembly was lubricated with grease, and the saw was reassembled. We also checked the sharpness of the chain, and dull chains were sharpened with the grinder in the SRD wood shop. The saws were returned to the FOSM Guard Station and hung on the hooks on the east wall.
When we arrived at about 1230 pm, the temperature was 34F, and when we left at about 4 pm, the temperature was 42F. Fortunately, we were able to do some of the work in the sun.
Photos are presented in the attached Word document.
