Hello Everyone,
On Wednesday, March 4, Jerry Carroll, Eric Russell, Dan Benton, Sim Cook, Lou Romero, and Sam Beard thinned approximately one acre of pinon and juniper trees in the Cedro CFRP (Collaborative Forest Restoration Program) near Juan Tomas Road south of the Ranger Station. We are scheduled to thin 12 acres this year.
Most of the area was dry, but there were patches of melting snow in the shade. Melt water around the edges of these patches created mud in the fine soil there.
Although four sawyers were present, only three saws were being operated, because only three swampers were available. We need more swampers on this project.
Photos are presented in the attached Word document.
