*Victory Hills Neighborhood Invites Community to Kick Off Summer Reading
with an Ice Cream Social!*

Join the Victory Hills Neighborhood as they kick off the summer months and
the Summer Reading Program with an ice-cream social this Saturday, June 1,
10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., at the Ernie Pyle Library, 900 Girard SE. The
Summer Reading Program is for all ages, and participants can earn lots of

*Free Community Safety Training Focuses on Personal Safety, Calling 911,
Graffiti Reporting and Needle/Syringe Disposal*

The West Central Community Development Group (WCCDG) is hosting a free,
2-hour community training on Thursday, May 30, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., WCCDG
Offices, 5921 Central NW, in conjunction with the APD Southwest Area
Command and Solid Waste Management. Attendees will learn about personal
safety, calling 911 and reporting emergencies vs. non-emergencies, how to
report graffiti, proper trash and recycling disposal, and how to safely get
rid of needles and syringes. This training is free, but space is limited,

*Needle Pickup Events Invite Volunteers to Safely Learn to Dispose of
Syringes*

The Bernalillo County Health Council has put together a listing of ongoing
safe pickup events for needles and syringes citywide, and are looking for
interested volunteers to participate in learning how to safely dispose of
these items. Here are the ongoing needle pickup events across Albuquerque:

·       MATS Program, times and dates vary but usually Monday – Friday

·       Volunteer-led program, Sundays, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Coronado
