The INS (No State Funding for Local & State Law Enforcement Agencies to
Enforce Federal Immigration Laws) SB 103 will be heard Friday, February 4,
at 2:30 in the Senate Judiciary Committee in room 32l.

It is especially important that members contact Senator Joseph Fidel
(McKinley chapter) and Senator Cynthia Nava (Southern chapter) and Senator
William Sharer (San Juan County Chapter). We need their key votes. Call
the Roundhouse at 505.986.4300.

For an example of how this bill will support our immigrant community, please
visit our website for 2 articles on the Del Norte High School students
returning to Mexico rather than face deportation. When you go to our site
(address below), click on Weblog in the right column for Legislative Alert
#6. There are excellent quotes from our coalition partners, Marcela Diaz,
Director of Somos Un Pueblo Unido, and Karen Sanchez-Griego, State Director
of ENLACE.

On the Happy News front: Both the RFID (Radio Frequency Identification
Devices) HB 215 and the Genetic Privacy HB 183 unanimously passed the House
Consumer and Public Affairs Committee yesterday. Thank you, everyone, for
your phone calls to key legislators on that committee. Now pick up your
cells and THANK THEM for their very good work.
You can call Representatives Dianne Hamilton, Joni Gutierrez, Gail Beam
(Chair), Irvin Harrison, Thomas Anderson, Keith Gardner and Al Park at the
Roundhouse at 505.986.4300.

Boy, is that Diane Wood, working or what? A+ Diane!
