                                            Another rich, full week for
ACLU-NM!

First this week is
abolishing the Death Penalty (HB576 sponsored by
Representative Gail Beam).
A joint meeting of the House and Senate Judiciary Committees will be held on
the House floor Wednesday at 1:30. Call your legislators at 505.986.4300.

If you would like our full national policy on repealing the Death
Penalty, check our web site at www.aclu-nm.org. In the
right column, click on Weblog. (Thank you, Art Jaquez, for prompting me to
do this)

Next: Representative Al Park apparently misses hearing from us as he is
considering voting for Senator William Sharer's
Defense of Marriage Act -- although he voted against
Repesentative Gloria Vaughan's Defense of Marriage Act earlier. We do not
want him changing his vote. We need that no vote. Please call him directly
at his legislative office: 505.986.4234.

Later today, we will have the Albuquerque Journal article on this issue on
our Weblog. Earlier Weblogs describe this issue also.

Al Park is also a key vote for our
No State Funding for Local & State Law Enforcement to Enforce
Federal Immigration Bill (SB103). (Channel 13 called it our No Fear Bill).
So, while, you are calling him, remind him to vote YES for our Immigration
bill.

Medical Marijuana passed the Senate Public Affairs Committee unanimously
last week.

Call now! Check our website! Stay tuned for our Legislative Alerts!
