We the people...

Civil Rights are Constitutional Rights - Guaranteed to all.

Our freedoms are clearly laid out in the Constitution, a document that
is the cornerstone of American political and social thought. As such,
every individual is entitled to those rights. The Bill of Rights is not
a "Bill of Suggestions" that are only applicable for certain members of
the community.

 

Constitutional rights are just that: rights granted to each of us.
Period.

Guest Speakers:

MAUREEN SANDERS, Sanders and Westbrook, PC

Maureen Sanders is a member of the firm Sanders and Westbrook, PC. Prior
to her return to private practice ten years ago, she was a Professor at
the University of New Mexico School of Law. She has also been General
Counsel for the State Corporation Commission and Director of the Civil
Division of the New Mexico Attorney General's Office. Currently she is
having a lot of fun representing clients in civil rights cases,
insurance cases and federal whistleblower cases.

GEORGE BACH, Staff Attorney, American Civil Liberties Union of New
Mexico

George Bach serves as the Staff Attorney for the American Civil
Liberties Union of New Mexico. Prior to joining the staff of the ACLU in
February 2005, George worked for labor lawyer Lee Peifer, litigating
civil rights, union-side labor law, and employee-side employment law. He
earned his undergraduate degree from Centre College of Kentucky and his
law degree from the University of New Mexico School of Law. George is a
former president of the New Mexico Lesbian and Gay Lawyers Association.
Outside work, he performs regularly in Albuquerque community theatre
with the notorious, and indiscriminately offensive, comedy sketch troupe
"Eat, Drink, and Be Larry."
