Hello All,
There will be a Hearing at the HPAC on Sunday, Mar 2, 1pm for Housing Bills
SB144 and SB145.
Since I will be out of state from Sunday March 2 at 7am until Saturday,
March 8, and the 2nd Housing lobbyist, Beth Bardwell, LWVSNM is also out of
State, I would appreciate it if Hannah Burling or some other LWVNM
Lobbyist could cover and testify for the 2 bills. Below the listing of
HPAC Bills is the abbreviated /suggested Testimony for SB144 and SB145.
Karen Wentworth has volunteered to track these Housing bills as necessary
during the next week.

My name is _____________ and I am a registered lobbyist for the League of
Women Voters of New Mexico.
*The League of Women Voters of New Mexico stands in strong support of the
$500 Million budget request for the NM Housing Trust Fund in SB145. *
According to two recent state and National studies the need for affordable
housing in our State is at a critical juncture. This appropriation will
provide the needed funding to rehabilitate or build new housing to help
alleviate the current housing market supply crisis.
An important provision in SB145 provides for a 10% ten percent set aside to
a municipality or county. This provides a strategic tool for local
communities to directly address the housing needs in their community -- urban
or rural.
The League urges the committee to give this bill/ SB145 a ‘do pass’
recommendation.
Thank you Senator Gonzales, for your leadership to ensure affordable
housing options are available for all New Mexicans.

THANK YOU,
