We're going to start our first polo night on wednesday. We'll try to divide the pool so we can still work on rolls and other drills at the same time. I've ordered nets for the goals, but they will not be here by wednesday. I figure we can still try to secure the goals in a way that will make them easy to hang and remove, review the rules, work on hand rolls, etc.
I've only played kayak polo a few times, so I'm by no means a referee or coach. I encourage all that play to study the rules before hand so that we can discuss interpretations, etc. and have fun safely. The complete rule book can be found at: http://www.canoepolo.ie/downloads/cprules2005.pdf
One of the reasons this has taken longer to get started, is the up-front cost for goals, nets, helmets and videos are a little more than I'd planned on committing. If others are interested in purchasing their own helmets - let me know. Offsetting the cost to me and/or the club is key to getting this up and running. I can get a pretty good deal on Pro Tec Ace helmets with removable face mask. There are also quite a few instructional polo vidoes and dvd's. Most of them are form the UK or Canada. They range from $30-50.
I've also added 2 new Jackson demos to my fleet - the 2Fun and Super Hero. I'll have these with me at the pool if anyone is interested.
See you wednesday night,
Kelly
