[Awclist] NEW POOL ARRANGEMENTS

Regarding getting on to Kirtland AFB:

I work at Sandia and am also one of KAFB's Outdoor Rec's guides. Typically, only one person in the car has to have base access (and doesn't even have to be the one driving). My Sandia badge gets me on base and everyone else in the car just rides along. Sometimes the guards want to see ID for everyone, but a driver's license is sufficient for that. So...carpool with the person who a base pass.

Since Sara mentioned Marcel, an update here is that Sam has moved on. Sam's wife Stacy is the marketing director for Sipapu Ski Area, and her job is taking them to Durango, In addition, they are possibly acquiring one of the local rafting companies there. Jeff Harris is taking over at Kirtland. Jeff has a long history on the rivers here in northern NM and southern CO. He was the lead guide for Kokopelli, working both out of Santa Fe and Salida.

Kirtland ODR also offers pool sessions at KAFB's outdoor pool in the summer months. This is one of their 'official' offerings which means participants pay a fee to ODR to attend a session. I only mention this since both KAFB's indoor and outdoor pools are under ODR's charge. No, I don't know why the KAFB Outdoor Recreation program is referred to as 'ODR' - just think of it as Out Door Recreation I suppose.

That's that.

Each of us is going to have to have a pass to get on post which is issued on a yearly basis after we have provided the PM with some pertinent information. We will be back to you all shortly with a New Pool Schedule and instructions about what you need to do to obtain a pass.

It was he who took the initiative on his own to check out the pool and has been its constant advocate. THANK YOU, John …… you done good.
