Hey all, I just received this and am hoping we can send it out to the list serve and Kelly to any of your folks who may be interested. A little late I know but Jay just found out about the fact that folks that live in NM do boat on rivers all the time. J I think in the future will have more notice. ThanksMarcel From: Jay Loschert [mailto:jay at americanwhitewater.org]

Subject: Dolores River Recreation & Conservation I was reminded today of the whitewater enthusiasts in Farmington who might be interested in the work we are doing to protect flows on the lower Dolores River. I know San Juan College has a wonderful resource to help people get outside and enjoy the area's rivers, deserts and mountains. I found your name on the college website and wondered if you might help me connect with whitewater enthusiasts at the college and in the Farmington community. I am the coordinator for a new whitewater group called Lower Dolores Boating Advocates. We are hosting an event on Monday, Jan. 30 in Dolores, Colorado. I've included more details below. If you could, I would appreciate your help in getting the word out about our meeting and our larger mission. Links to our website and FB page can be found below. Sorry for the late notice for the meeting; there will be more, and I will be sure to notify our friends in Farmington sooner next time. If you are unable to help, maybe you could refer me to someone who could. Thanks in advance! Lower Dolores Boating Advocates would like to invite area whitewater enthusiasts to the next installment of our boater education series. We are hosting an evening withour conservation partners to discuss collaborative efforts to improveecological and whitewater recreation conditions below McPhee Reservoir. Please join us Monday, January 30th at the Dolores Community Center, 400Riverside Ave. from 7:00-9:30 PM for a presentation by San Juan CitizensAlliance, Trout Unlimited, the Nature Conservancy and American Whitewater. Small group discussions will follow to address questions. Please stickaround afterwards for a social hour with live music and beer from theDolores River Brewery (bring your own cup). Numerous opportunities for youto be more involved in stewardship projects will also be explained. All of the presenters serve on the Implementation Team of the Lower DoloresWorking Group, which is developing new river management strategies tobenefit three threatened native fish species in the lower Dolores. Thesenew strategies may affect our whitewater boating season. Please join us tolearn more and offer your input! --
