[Awclist] Farmington River Project

Hello Membership,

 

As many of you know from some of our past meetings, the Jr. Clinic  and e-mail correspondence; starting in 2013 the AWC will support a river project each year to improve habitat, paddling and environmental health in NM. In 2013 the supports will go to the Animas Fish Habitat project here in Farmington. I have attached the plans for the project which will first create a great deal of fish habitat from the bottom of the current whitewater park to about ¾ of a mile downstream. The project will also stabilize the banks and obviously add several features to the river which will greatly improve the paddling experience. The club will be donating a minimum of $1000.00 to the project. I say this is a minimum because the Board has already decided to dedicate that amount. In the next couple of months however we will be offering other opportunities for the Membership to donate or provide additional funding to this project.

 

Please check out the attached plans. It looks pretty Awesome for sure.

 

Also start thinking about projects for 2014.
