*Climate change impacts in the Upper Rio Grande lecture:* Dagmar Llewellyn
of the Bureau of Reclamation (BoR) will present results from the recent
Upper Rio Grande Impacts Assessment, an activity of the West Wide Climate
Risk Assessment, during a lecture on Wednesday, July 10, at 7 p.m. at the
New Mexico Museum of Natural History. The study, representing a two year
cooperative effort between BoR, Sandia’s Jesse Roach (6926), and the U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers, presents the potential risks and impacts
associated with climate change to water supplies and demands in the Rio
Grande Basin above Caballo reservoir. Analysis suggests decreased basin
inflows coupled to increased evaporative demands will make it difficult for
New Mexico to meet downstream delivery obligations without changes to
current water operation policies. The talk is free of charge and open to
the public.
