Good Morning AWC Membership, (Important, time sensitive)
We are in need of your help. It looks like the City of Pueblo CO is
taking steps to insure a more consistent flow in the Pueblo Whitewater
Park. As many of you know this is my (and many other paddlers) favorite
park in the 4 Corners States if not the whole country. The biggest
problem with it is that there is no dedicated flow amount in the summer
months and for us living far away, you could check the gauge in the
morning and see great flows, but by the time you get there a few hours
later the river could be nearly dry, or like last year the park never
had enough water in it to make it worth the trip. The Arkansas River in
Pueblo is Dam Controlled so a little better management would insure that
many of us would go and enjoy this place more regularly. The point is
that consistent flows would let all of us enjoy this gem more.
Please see the e-mail below from Sarah Snowberger at the City of Pueblo.
She is looking for some specific pieces of information for anyone who
has visited the park in the last 6 years. She needs all this information
by Friday so if you have some info please send it in ASAP to the
e-mails specified below.
Thanks Every one.
Hi Marcel -
As I was saying on the phone, we are getting a case together so that
hopefully the City can get more water rights to keep the water flow
going at the whitewater park. Our legal team is on a mission to collect
as much information possible to support the need of the water flow. You
had mentioned others may have information or photos they could possibly
share for documentation so please feel free to send my request out.
What I'm looking for from you and anyone else who provides a statement:
Legal Name:
Address:
Phone/Email:
Current Employment:
A statement of personal knowledge of events or usage of the whitewater
park since April 2006 to now:
Copies of any photos, log books, flyers, etc?
A meeting is being held on Friday (March 29) to go over collected
information, I understand that is in just a few days and kind of last
minute notice but any information you or any members of your group have,
would be greatly appreciated! I am not in the office on Thursday or
Friday this week so if you need to send anything to us after Wednesday
please send that info over to my boss, Scott Hobson shobson at pueblo.us.
Thank you again for your help!!
Sarah
