You're not going to solve cyclists getting hit at controlled intersections
by striping cyclists farther to the right, farther away from where drivers
are paying attention. You're not going to stop right turning drivers from
hitting cyclists to their right by forcing cyclists to be to the right of
right turning drivers.

At intersections, you should be BEHIND or IN FRONT of other vehicles. Not
to their right. You get out of the bike lane. You get to the LEFT of any
vehicles that are indicating a right turn.

We have advanced stop / bike boxes in Albuquerque. Nobody knows what they
are. They're ignored by everyone. We have a HAWK light that just confuses
people. Some drivers stop when it isn't active and wave you out into
moving traffic. Some drivers blow through it when it's active despite the
other lanes being stopped. Eventually someone is going to get hammered at
it.
