*LWVCNM will have a table at the Valencia County Fair* this week from
Monday, *August 24*, through Saturday* August 29*.

*LWVCNM will provide timekeeping for a Roadrunner Food Coalition Chat *with
Gubernatorial Candidate Greg Hull on Friday, *August 28*, from 10:30 am to
1 pm.

*LWVCNM will provide timekeeping for a Roadrunner Food Coalition Chat *with
Gubernatorial Candidate Deb Haaland on Friday, *September 4*, from 6 to
7:30 pm.

*The next happy hour is at Nexus Brewery and Restaurant* on Wednesday,
*September

Saturday, *September 12.*

*Freedom to Read Coalition is having a meeting* on Monday, *September 14*,
from 2:30 to 5 pm, to discuss and strategize legislative efforts to protect
public school, public, and academic libraries and those who staff them.

A BEAUTIFUL TRADITION

After New Mexico women won the right to vote in 1920, it became a custom
among Nuevomexicanas to register to vote on their 21st birthday.

Think about what that means. Not just a legal right — a cultural
celebration. A rite of passage passed down through families. A way of
saying: this was hard-won, and we honor it from the very first moment we're
eligible.

Before women in Santa Fe went to the polls for the first time, voter
information was distributed in both English and Spanish — because Nina
Otero-Warren and her coalition insisted on it.
