*The 2026 Legislative Session* begins on *January 20* (and ends on *February
19*).
*The* *Drop-In Coffee* is on *January 24* from 10 AM to noon in the
conference room.

is on *January 28 *at 5:30. The book is *The Line Becomes A River –
Dispatches from the Border* by Francisco Cantú.
*The LWVNM League Legislative reception* is *January 29th *from 5:30 to

*There is still time to write a letter to the governor *asking her to send
a message to include the Freedom to Read New Mexico bills to the 2026
session. One of the three

bills has been filed by Representative Cates. The bill is HB26 PROHIBITING
BOOK BANNING AT PUBLIC LIBRARIES.
There will be two more bills filed in the near future. One by Senator Pope
and the other by Senator Sedillo Lopez.
