[Neighbors] ART is worse than we thought - Have you see the new Zuni lanes

Have you seen the new re-stripped lanes on Zuni?

Zuni, Lead and Coal are not mentioned much by the city in the attempt to fast-track this ART project. Lead/Coal/Zuni are where the traffic that is to be pushed off the bottleneck created with one lanes on Central is to go, but most people have not caught onto this little detail yet. It will greatly worsen the traffic accidents and speeding that the neighborhoods have with Lead and Coal now. Many home owners will probably move out as they see their property values decline as this goes problem intensifies.

But, Zuni has just been resurfaced from Lead/Coal out to Central. The new lanes on Zuni from San Mateo east are one lane each direction, like Central will be if this ART is completed. So we will have two major parallel roads narrowed to one lane each direction in this side of town, with two lane Lead/Coal feeding the one lane Zuni. I can’t imagine a worse plan this this - is it deliberately done or does one hand not know what the other is doing in the city? I wonder if this is not all illegal and being rushed because it is just stupid planning?

Hi Cliff - thanks for asking.

Earlier this spring, I met with Nob Hill Main Street and city ART
officials to review questions about future events on Central, as well as
any potential conflicts between ART construction and these events this
year. These questions were also raised several times during ART¹s early
meetings with merchants.

The Mayor¹s ART team made adjustments to the construction calendar to
accommodate the State Fair and parade, keeping it here on Central, and
there are no prohibitions on relocating ART to Lomas etc temporarily
during other regular events. Our biggest challenge for these events will
be ensuring that events like the Twinkle Light Parade stay in Nob Hill
instead of relocating to other parts of town who would like to host it as
well.
