*Citizen’s Police Academy Class Starting Tuesday, August 28*

The Albuquerque Police Department (APD) invites interested residents to
sign up for the upcoming Citizen Police Academy. Starting Tuesday, August
28, this 12-week course teaches citizens about the philosophy, policies and
guiding principles of law enforcement; offers classroom instruction from
divisions such as Crime Lab, Narcotics and K-9; and at the end of the
course, offers an 8-hour ride along with a police officer. To sign up

Ballroom. There will be a showing of the suffragette film *Iron Jawed

*12th Annual Tomato Festival Shares Local Tomato Harvest with the Public*

*Disaster Preparation Ideas and Tips*

Having a family disaster preparation plan and emergency kit with 72 hours’
worth of supplies is something every household should make a priority.
Below is a list of certain items essential for an emergency kit:

·       1 gallon water per person per day

·       Extra cash and credit cards

·       Cell phone and charger

·       Matches, candles, and lighters

·       Radio, flashlight and extra batteries

·       First aid kit, including bandages, rubbing alcohol, thermometer,
prescription medications and over-the-counter medications

·       Manual can opener and utility knife and/or scissors

·       Extra blankets, preferably wool or thermal

·       Extra clothing, including jackets, socks and sturdy shoes/boots

·       Extra food, water, and medication for your pets

·       Extra eyeglasses and/or contact lenses, including contact lens
supplies

·       Personal hygiene items

·       If possible, include copies of essential paperwork such as drivers
licenses, passports, birth certificates, social security cards, insurance
cards, marriage licenses, vehicle titles and insurance, insurance policies,
and homeowner documents
