 Dear Neighbors:

About 3 years ago, an investment group requested a liquor waiver ordinance for a restaurant, with a different name, at this exact location.
For those of you not familiar with the issue, there was a city ordinance at that time that stated that liquor could not be served within 300 feet of a church or school. The restriction only applied to liquor - beer and wine could be served. The investment group was requesting a change to the Nob Hill Highland Sector Development Plan (NHHSDP), which would have changed the ordinance for the entire neighborhood.

This time the applicant (Future 500, LLC) is requesting "a distance waiver from the City of Albuquerque as the proposed location is within 300 feet of the Calvary Baptist Church, the applicant is also requesting restaurant liquor license with on premise consumption only." My concern is that approval of a distance waiver will set a precedent, opening the door for more waivers in the Nob Hill commercial district and the increase in crime goes with it.
The NHNA Board of Directors will hold a special meeting to gather neighborhood input. Please attend the meeting and make your voice heard.
-Veronica

Nob Hill Neighbors,

Nob Hill Neighborhood Association (NHNA) has received the attached notice of public liquor hearing.

Your board of directors is setting up a neighborhood meeting, probably late this week, to hear your input and consider an NHNA statement to the Liquor Hearing Officer (LHO). We’ll put out the place and time as soon as it is set up. We plan to reach out to the applicant and Calvary Church for the meeting.

As stated in the notice you can address the LHO personally at the hearing on Friday, November 9 at 9 am.

Your ideas are welcome by emailing neighbors at nobhill-nm.com

and/or your board at  theboard at nobhill-nm.com

Kind regards, Gary Eyster, President
