Hello Skiers,

At or above 32F snow sticks to the bottom of skis, especially when going from warm snow to cold snow. Snow can easily build up to 6 inches thick on skis.

Products like Maxiglide are designed to reduce the sticking of snow on skis, and all skiers should carry this product or a similar one.

I prefer the Maxiglide MaxxWaxx paste in a plastic container that can be used to scrape snow off the bottoms before applying the MaxxWaxx.

It is the consistency of lard and is applied full length on the ski bottom on no-wax skis. Sometimes it is necessary to apply MaxxWaxx twice during the day.

The cost is $15 for the container. Other companies (like Swix) make similar products

MaxxWaxx can be ordered from REI and Amazon. It may also be available in the local REI store and ski equipment stores like Sportz Systems.
