*Happy New Year!*
It's 2023. How many times will I still write '22? Maybe not makeing that
mistake should be my first resolution for the year. My 2nd resolution? Ski
more powder!
Pasted below [probably without intended formatting] are snow depths for the
last week of the year, from Christmas Day to New Year's Day respectively.
Snow is piling up. These sites are what I track to get an idea of our
winter snowpack. In a few more days, after the end of this storm cycle,
these readings should be much whiter.
When you're perusing the SNOTEL web site, don't let the "observation
missing" notice deter you. Drill down into either the 30 day or 7 day
reports to get a good reading. All it takes is one spurious data glitch
creates an error on the overview map.
And remember, these snow depths are away from the packed snow of a ski
area, and away from whatever magic snow drift the areas measure.
Let it snow!
-Barry
PS: Here's my starting point for the daunting SNOTEL web site.
