[NMCCSC] Please Move Conversation // Re: SNOTEL Snow Report / 1-12-24

Um, as a new person, has this ever happened before? Does everyone know the group guidelines, and the consequences for not living up to them? Generally listservs of this size do need that kind of thing, with regular reminders. Groups can get whacky! :-) Right now, folks really are shooting first and asking later, and this kind of stuff can quickly impair a good community thing. It doesn’t matter what our opinion is, there should be clear group rules about how we share them. Name calling, for one thing, should be out of bounds, always.

I’m happy to help re-visit this task with moderators if it’s needed. And if that help isn’t needed, I would be delighted if moderators reminded us of the group norms. Thanks all!

Since I must turn off notifications, the group has zero value to me, as I will not find out about events in a timely manner. I wish I had know what the tone of this group was like before joining. I have completly wasted $25 that could have been better spent. I would have thought outdoor folk would be more evolved than the emails indicate. Adios...

The road through Hyde Park up to Aspen Vista and Santa Fe Ski area is plowed incredibly well just like deep snow areas in Colorado. They got over 4 feet of snow up there this week and also problems with drifting and the road was perfectly clear by Wednesday morning with wide lanes, plowed shoulders and turnouts, and very high snowbanks on the side. They must have the equipment up there, so why can’t it happen down here?

In one case the rescue grader got stuck as well until the driver put on chains] Perhaps someone knows how to put a mill levey or something on a ballot or how we might raise enough money from winter sports enthusiasts. At present, it appears Bernallillo county is not equipped to plow a road in a place where it really snows. Perhaps in a program similar to sending a chef to Europe to learn cooking, we can send a team to Colorado to learn how to plow deep snow. We need to pay plow drivers enough to plow during wee morning hours so they don't have to plow around stuck vehicles.

The States largest mountain next to the largest city in New Mexico and w no-one can access it. I realize there is not enough man power but that response is not acceptable me especoally now that the tram is closed. There I said it I feel better now.
