[NMCCSC] Hopewell Lake/Tres Piedras/Aldo Leopold Casita

Last week Perrianne and I drove up to Tres Piedras, met James Neal, USFS Ranger at the Tres Piedras ranger station then explored the area west of 285 on NM64.  NM64 had been plowed to within 3 miles of Hopewell Lake.  Snow pile (see snow pile behind ranger, James Neal, in photo 0395) prevents further traffic west which is why NMRoads.com notes NM64 as being closed west of 285.

Maps to have are the Carson National Forest map and the Motor Vehicle Use Map for Tres Piedras, Canjilon and El Rito Ranger Districts.

Potential trails for skiing/snow shoeing are:  133/87, 795 both of which are off of 65 and 167 which is about 4 miles north of Tres Piedras west of 285.  Other trails to explore west of 285 and north of Tres Piedras in the event 64 has not been plowed are:  87, 576, 83.  Avoid: 167A & 82

Updates/maintenance/repairs to the Aldo Leopold casita to start this summer.  Will be posted on rec.gov after completion for public rental.
