The Friends of the Sandia Mountains (FOSM) led a trail crew up to continue
work on the Cienega/Armijo Trails Improvement Project (CATIP). A great crew
showed up for the session and completed trail Section TC06. CATIP is now
*71%* complete: a total of *6.1 miles* of new trail have been built. Both
figures are approximate because bypassed trail obliteration is not included
and the new or rerouted sections often end up longer than originally
estimated. The crew is concentrating on completing loops back to Faulty,
Canoncito, and Armijo Trails to improve access to the area.

A crew of fifteen volunteers showed up for the trail session: Claudia
Bergsohn, Dave Harding, Lorna Morrow, Sim Cook, Jenny Blackmore, Steve
Roholt, Jeff Huser, Byron Garner, Cleve Sharp, Phil Cromer, Bruce Hansche,
Pat and Mike Madden, and Betsy and Bob Galloway.

Besides completing the new trail construction, the crew opened up the
corridor, cut backslope, removed oak, and leveled tread on a section of
TC06 built around a year ago.

The weather started out overcast and very humid but then the sun came out
and water breaks became more frequent. With the earlier start, the crew got
back to their vehicles and down the road before the rain hit. Just under a
half inch of rain which was not forecast. We'll take it!
