The wildly varying weather forecasts still allowed the Friends of the
Sandia Mountains (FOSM) trail crew to complete another reroute in the
Cienega/Armijo Trails Improvement Project (CATIP) for the Sandia Ranger
District (SRD). The overcast and cool weather was welcomed by the trail
crew.

With the completion of the reroute of TC25 and TC24, *CATIP is now 64%*
*complete*. The percent complete is based on the original estimate of new
trail building required. But the reality of assessing the terrain and
mapping the reroutes often results in additional length of trail being
built to complete a section. No matter, the results have been very good and
a number of compliments heard from the public on the new reroutes were
shared among the crew.

An experienced crew of thirteen volunteers worked with Russell
Berman, Cibola National Forest and Grasslands Resource Assistant - Trails,
and Jessica White who is detailed for 120 days to the SRD Trails and
Wilderness Program Manager position. The volunteers were Cleve Sharp. Byron
Garner, Eric Russell, Mark Grazier, Sim Cook, Don Carnicom, Claudia
Bergsohn, Bruce Hansche, Lorna Morrow, Pat and Mike Madden, and Betsy and
Bob Galloway.
