In addition to the usual trail building days, the Friends of the Sandia
Mountains (FOSM) will schedule special sessions to complete specific tasks.
Today, a small crew hiked up into the new Cienega/Armijo Trail Improvement
Project (CATIP) trail system to install trail signs on completed loops in
the network. Seven signs were installed at major intersections. Trail users
are finding and exploring the system, and the trail signs provided by a
generous REI grant will help orient them.

The crew today were Phil Cromer, Steve Roholt, and Betsy and Bob Galloway.
Kerry Wood, Sandia Ranger District Trails and Wilderness Program manager,
came along to direct and assist with sign installation.

Fall is here in the Sandia Mountains, Cooler temperatures and fall colors
are starting.

For those folks who worked the Madera Locura and Elk Track Trails
intersection, the bee colony we encountered finally decided to move on.
