Hello Everyone,
On Wednesday, October 21, FOSM volunteers will return to the Cedro thinning project area south of FR-242 south of the ranger station. We will fell small pinon and juniper trees and scatter the slash. We will not fell Ponderosa pines and oaks. We will not fell trees with diameters of 13 inches and greater.
We especially need swampers (sawyers’ assistants).
The crew will be divided into teams of 5 or fewer volunteers each.
We will meet at 8 AM at the FOSM Guard Station behind the Ranger Station to fuel chain saws, collect equipment and supplies and present the JHA (Job Hazard Analysis).
Wear long pants, long sleeve shirt, and sturdy boots with slip-resistant soles. Bring a face mask, lunch, snacks, lots of water, hard hat, eye and ear protection, and work gloves. If you do not have a hard hat, one will be provided. We will travel to the work site with just one person in each vehicle unless some volunteers are in the same family.
Also, bring a warm jacket, because the mornings are especially cool at the Guard Station.
If you have questions, please email me (do not reply to this message) at samgbeard at msn.com.
