Temporary parking area closure for search and rescue efforts - Sandia Ranger District


Albuquerque, NM, (September 18, 2020) - In support of the New Mexico State Police's continued search and rescue efforts for a local hiker, Sandia Ranger District, Cibola National Forest and Grasslands is temporarily closing the Sandia Crest Recreation site upper parking area from 7am to 7pm on Saturday, September 19.  The lower parking area will remain open and visitors may still access the observation deck and the surrounding trails.

The Sandia Crest Recreation site is located at the top of the Sandia Mountains accessed via Sandia Crest Scenic Byway, State Highway 536.
