Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, September 16, eleven FOSM volunteers felled hazard trees in Sulphur Canyon Picnic Area. The crew was divided into three teams that felled trees in the lower, middle, and upper parts of the picnic area.

A total of approximately 50 trees were felled. Almost all the trees were Gambel Oak, and a few were Rocky Mountain Junipers. Two 20-inch diameter trees were felled. In many areas the large oaks were in dense groves of smaller oaks, and it was necessary to cut several small oaks to obtain a safe lay and to provide two escape routes. Many of the pink ribbons on the hazard trees were missing, and considerable time was expended looking for the hazard trees.

The volunteers were Cliff Giles, Jerry Pekarek, Byron Garner, Eric Russell, Sim Cook, Sally Lowder, Bob Lowder, Lorna Morrow, Jerry Carroll, Michael Arndt, and Sam Beard.

Photographs are presented in the attached Word document.
