Hello Everyone,
On Monday, April 19, a few FOSM volunteers continued to work on the project to install metal roofs on three Oak Flat Group Picnic Area restrooms.
The following tasks were completed:
1. Tools Moved to Restroom #1 – Lou Romero and Sam Beard moved tools from restroom #2 to restroom #1 where volunteers will start working on the roof on Friday, April 23. The roof installation on RR #2 is almost compete.
1. Gable Trim Installed on RR #2 Roof – Joelle Hertel, Mike Madden, Lou Romero, and Sam Beard installed gable trim on both ends of the RR #2 roof. Eve drip edges, felt, and eight roof panels had been installed earlier.
Gable trim is an approximately L-shaped piece of sheet steel that is installed over the gable edge of the roof panels and down the side of the fascia. It prevents the passage of rain under the edge of the roof panel. See the photo in the attached Word document.
We had also planned to install the ridge cap on this roof but found that part of the end of the vent structure interfered with the proper placement of the steel cap. Making a small change in the vent end should enable us to install the cap.
