[Volunteers_fosm] FOSM Project felling hazard trees in Sulphur PA, Wed., May 12

Hello Everyone,

On Wednesday, May 12, FOSM volunteers will fell hazard trees in Sulphur Canyon PA.

Sixteen hazard trees have been marked.
Going from the entrance up the canyon, volunteers will be in the following groups:

  *    First sawyer and swampers --  Lower parking lot area – 8” and 11” and where road changes to 1 lane – 8” and 9”
  *   Second sawyer and swampers -- Toilet and upper parking lot – 9”, 12”, 9” plus 2 other trees. and Upper picnic tables – 6” and 13” (may need to pull)
  *   Third sawyer and swampers -- From bollards to traffic circle – 11”, 5”, 14”, 5”, and 6” (a couple are cigar butts)

Meet at  8 a.m. at the FOSM Guard Station behind the Ranger Station.
Bring lunch, hearing and eye protection, work gloves, and a hard hat. Wear slip-resistant boots, long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and a warm jacket. The mornings are still cool.

Sawyers and swampers working near chain saws are required to wear chaps.
