Please join me in thanking Mike Coltrin for the many years service he has provided creating and maintaining our website <https://friendsofthesandias.org/>. Mike has decided that it is time to let someone else enjoy the fun of being webmaster, and I have agreed to do so until a volunteer comes along.

Mike and I spent a couple of intense weeks including hours of Zoom meetings getting the FOSM and snowshoe race websites transferred to me. I want to thank Mike personally for his dedication to the task.

A change made during the transition was to add SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protection. You now will see https:// at the beginning of the URL (Universal Resource Locator) and a small lock icon assuring that you are connected to the FOSM site. As a result of this change, bookmarks saved with the old http:// URL won’t work. You will need to create a new one or modify your existing bookmark by adding the s to the URL.

Mike Madden has asked me to add the capability of using PayPal on the site in time to renew our memberships. Doing so is proving to be a challenge, but I’m trying to validate the adage that you are never too old to learn.

If you have website development experience, particularly with WordPress, and are interested in being the FOSM webmaster, please contact me.
