Hello Everyone:
Yesterday, the FOSM Trails Maintenance Crew hiked Capulin Peak Trail to remove two previously reported leaners, one about six-inches in diameter and the other four inches in diameter. This was done. The trail is now clear from end to end. Silky-type folding saws and other hand tools were used for this work. Except for a few bare spots in the sun at the overlook, the trail was snow covered with different depths depending on location. Crew members wore snowshoes for this work. The day was mostly clear with a light breeze in forested areas. This was, however, not the case at the overlook where a brisk wind meant that the crew did not linger there too long. Sun provided its typical winter warmth in sunny spots.
Yesterday's crew consisted of Byron Garner, Jamey Browning, Jerry Pekarek, David McCreery, Rav Nicholson, Bill Perkins, John Cooper, Jenny Blackmore and Bob Lowder. Please see attached Word file for photos and additional narrative. All photos by Jamey Browning, Jenny Blackmore and Bob Lowder.
Thanks,
Bob L.
