Hello Everyone:
Yesterday, Monday, September 18, 2023, the FOSM Trail Maintenance Crew hiked Survey trail to remove a previously reported tree located about 2.26 miles north of the trailhead. The tree was about eleven inches in diameter and was suspended over the trail about three feet above the tread. After two cuts with Silky-type saws, the tree was removed. The crew then returned via a short portion of 10K North, then Ellis trail back to the starting point at the Ellis trailhead. As of mid-day Monday, these trails and trail sections were completely clear.
It was a fine pre-autumn day with cool morning temperatures, mostly clear skies and an occasional light breeze. The Aspens are beginning to show a preview of their annual golden show.
Yesterday's crew consisted of Byron Garner, Jerry Pekarek, Cleve Sharp, David McCreery, Jamey Browning, Ken Wilson, Silke Bletzer, John Cooper, Bill Perkins and Bob Lowder.
Please see attached Word document for photos and additional narrative. Photos by Bill Cooper, Silke Bletzer and Jamey Browning.
Thanks,
Bob L.
