[LWVNM Action] Great overview of NM Tax Policy

 Dick:
I attended the 2-day RSTP meeting this week.  I think that there was a lot of interest in tackling some of NMs tax policies, especially the archaic ones.  If the League wants to influence the content of 2023 legislation, the time to do it is now through the Fall while legislators are crafting their bills and these interim committees are deciding on policy.  Rather than take a reactive approach in the next session, why not take a proactive approach now?  The League has influence.  Why not use it now when it has more leverage?  I hope that we discuss this in Friday's meeting.
Also, I put together a list of policy actions that I think are ripe for action by the Legislature.  And some of them might be pursued by the RSTP based on the questions and comments this week from committee members.   The list is influenced by my own personal views, but it's grounded on this week's discussion.  I've attached it for your information.
I'm looking forward to a lively discussion.
Regards,
Laura

The 2023 Legislative session is supposed to be the big tax reform session. Many of the "money" interim committees will be reviewing tax policy and will be making recommendations to the 2023 session. This is the overview of existing tax policy given yesterday to the interim Revenue Stabilization & Tax Policy Committee.
