This may be news to many, but my crankset is longer than most all y’alls. No brag, just fact. And no, girls, I’m not looking for a date, just more pocket change.

I’m 6’ even [still - but my next birthday starts with a 6 - so my days are numbered I suppose] and ride 180 cranks, road and dirt. Remember when every road bike out there had 170 cranks? I do. For a while there I kept a pair of 172.5 cranks (for criteriums) and 177.5 cranks for everything else, especially hill climbs. There was a particular Pro/1/2 criterium in Durango a bunch of years ago when Alexi Greywal thought he should beat me...so he did. I had put the shorter cranks on for that race; but the ‘crit' was more like a short circuit race with several hills. So 1: hills + 2: beat by an Olympian = 3: I launched the 172.5s after that, then I also launched the 177.5s and have been riding 180s ever since.

I recently ‘upgraded’ from the XT cranks I bought new to a set of XTR cranks I bought used. So I would like to trade my long XT cranks which are, uh, experienced, but not used up; for your money.

I will again reserve the right to throw out all reasonable offers. The chainrings are plenty good enough to command all unreasonable offers, of which I am the judge. Especially since the middle ring is not disproportionately worn compared to the other two. Why? ‘Cuz with cranks, quads, and gluts as big as mine; the Big Ring works well. There, ‘nuff said.

The money I got selling the Kona Hei Hei went to pay down my therapy bill, so my wallet is pretty light again. Which is also proof, girls, that this is not just a ploy for a date. Unless you’re buying…

Soon to be a sexagenarian,
—-Cliff

Man is a luxury loving animal. Take away play, fancies, and luxuries, and
you will turn man into a dull, sluggish creature, barely energetic enough to
obtain a bare subsistence. A society becomes stagnant when its people are
too rational or too serious to be tempted by baubles. - Eric Hoffer
