Hello Everyone:

Today, the FOSM Trails Maintenance crew hiked Crest area trails looking for fallen trees or other problems that were caused by the recent storm. Trails hiked included Rocky Point, Gravel Pit and 10K South to the last ski run. Crew member David McCreery had hiked Switchback, Buried Cable and the Chute on Saturday and reported that they were clear.

In addition to removing numerous fallen Aspen branches, the following work was completed; An old two-tree hung-up was removed from Gravel Pit. It had been studied and left in place in the past but now appeared to be less stable so it was cut away. On 10K South, a large fallen Aspen tree top was partially blocking the trail not far from the trailhead. It was removed. Also removed from 10K South were the ends of 7 and 8-inch logs which were protruding into the trail, the top of an uprooted Aspen tree blocking the trail, an 8-inch diameter Aspen fallen across the trail and a 6-inch diameter dead fir suspended over the trail.

All of these trails or trail sections were clear as of noon today.

It was a sunny and cool day that offered a preview of autumn weather. A light breeze was refreshing. After so many months of working in hot weather, today was a welcome change.

Please see the attached Word document for photos and additional narrative. All photos by Bob Lowder.

Today's crew consisted of Rav Nicholson, David McCreery, Byron Garner, Jim Levesque, Jerry Pekarek and Bob Lowder.
